Mitchell Receives NCAA Statistical Award

Connor Mitchell put together one of the best seasons by a Murray State kicker in recent memory in 2016 and was recently honored by the NCAA with a national statistical plaque. Mitchell led the FCS last season in field goals per game at 1.82.
The Franklin, Tennessee played a pivotal role in the Racers' upset of No. 15 Eastern Illinois last season by kicking a school-record six field goals. Mitchell went 20-for-27 on the year and kicked a long field goal of 50 yards against UT Martin.
Mitchell's statistical championship is the first for Murray State since 2010 when Marcus Harris and Dontrell Johnson won for receptions per game and punt return average, respectively. As a team, the Racers were also honored that for team punt return average.Â
