First Pitch
The Racers continue their four-game road swing and 7-of-8 games on the road as they travel to face their second top-15 opponent of the season in third-ranked TCU. The Horned Frogs have won nine straight and are 14-2 at home this year. In 2016, TCU advanced to the College World Series.
Inside the Series
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. MSU is 15-11-1 all-time against the Big 12 and last faced a Big 12 opponent last season, when the Racers split with Kansas. TCU will be the sixth opponent that MSU faces from that league.
Grand Slam….Again
MSU now has four grand slams this season after Tyler Lawrence belted the fourth slam of his career April 4 at Western Kentucky. Lawrence has two slams on the year while Jack Hranec and Davis Sims also had ones earlier this season.
Hits King
Tyler Lawrence is just two hits shy of passing Wes Cunningham (2007-10) for the most hits all-time in program history. Cunningham tallied 237 lifetime knocks while Lawrence has 236.
Scouting #3 TCU
The Horned Frogs enter the weekend riding a nine-game winning streak and are hitting .264 as a team and are averaging just over seven runs per game in 2017. Austen Wade leads TCU with a .311 batting average while Luken Baker is second on the team with a .309 average and leads the team with 30 runs scored. Baker also leads the squad with five homers in 2017.
Cam Warner leads the Horned Frogs with 28 RBIs on the year and is one of five Horned Frogs that have 20 or more ribbies in 2017. Elliott Barzilli leads TCU with eight doubles and 10 extra-base hits this season while Nolan Brown is 14-of-15 on stolen base attempts to lead the team.
