Â
The Racers were cited for Excellence In Graphics by the Ohio Valley Conference.
Â
Murray State's efforts were led by Matt Hall, director of multimedia and production.
Â
"I want to thank all of our students that worked on our more than 80 live broadcasts this school year," Hall said. "We streamed more events than we ever have before, and we were also able to add more features in our streams such as updated graphics and pre-game shows. I look forward to next year because I know we will do even better. Our OVCDN effort is a great chance for MSU students to get hands-on experience."
Â
This is the second award given to Murray State, after they were given the Excellence in Production Clarity for the 2014-15Â school year.
Â
Murray State Athletics produced 81 live game broadcasts in the 2016-17 school year including games for football, soccer and volleyball in the fall to men's and women's basketball in the winter months, to the spring sports of baseball and softball. Since its start in the 2012-13 school year, MSU Athletics has produced 361 total games in five years for an average of 72.2 per year.
Â
The OVC Digital Network (OVCDN) was launched in 2012 and has become the hub for all OVC schools to feature live web streamed athletic contests and other ancillary programming including graduations, banquets, coaches' shows and special events. The OVCDN is offered free of charge and in a high-definition format that can be viewed from any computer, smart phone, Roku streaming box or tablet.
Â
This year the OVC Assessment and Accountability Subcommittee awarded seven total awards as part of a Program of Excellence, including two overall awards of excellence and five secondary awards. The subcommittee, comprised of individuals from a variety of administrative positions within OVC member institutions, was established and charged with setting minimum expectations along with an assessment program to recognize member institutions excelling with the OVCDN.
