Kubin Seals The Deal In OT, Racers Remain Perfect

For the second straight game, Murray State (6-0-0, 1-0-0) settled business in overtime, as they defeated the Morehead State Eagles (1-6-0, 0-1-0) 1-0 at Jayne Stadium in Morehead, Ky. Rebecca Kubin received a through ball late into the first overtime period and was able to beat the keeper at the 97th minute of play for her third goal of the year.
The Eagles gave very few chances for the Racers in the first half, as Murray was unable to put a shot on net while taking six shots in total. Morehead however, was able to put two of three shots on net, testing Alex Steigerwald early in the match.
"Morehead did a good job defensively and stopped us going forward. We made some adjustments at the half and played really well. We were disappointed not to win in regulation. Their goalkeeper was outstanding and made some huge saves." Said head coach Jeremy Groves.
Morehead continued to play strong defense, but wasn't able to contain the Racers completely, as Murray put five shots on goal in the second frame of action.
In total, the Racers took 14 shots and hit the target six times. They also committed eight fouls and took the same number of corner kicks.
Undefeated Saint Louis comes to Cutchin Field Sunday to finish the week. As of now, the Billikens are 6-0-1.
"It's going to be a tough game, but I also know we have a very talented team going forward. We are a handful."
