The only two-time OVC Softball Player of the Year in league history, a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American and Murray State's only NFCA All-American Jessica Twaddle has joined the Racer coaching staff as volunteer assistant, head coach Kara Amundson announced Friday. While on staff, Twaddle will be primarily working with the infielders, as well as assisting with hitting instruction.
"We are excited to have Jessica staying in the Racer Softball program and moving into the role as part of the staff," said Amundson. "Being a student-athlete here for four years, she knows what the Murray State tradition is about and how to represent it well. I believe Jessica has the ability to be a great up-and-coming coach and we are excited that she is starting that journey here at Murray State."
A three-time All-OVC selection, Twaddle recently capped her amazing career with the Racer by helping lead the team to its first-ever postseason berth in the National Invitational Softball Championship. The Franklin, Tennessee native ender her playing career as the program's all-time leader in batting average at .374, hits at 234, RBIs at 143 and most double plays turned at 84.
Off the field, Twaddle graduated last December from Murray State with a degree in economics. Since January, she has remained a student at Murray State and is currently pursuing her master's degree, also in economics.
