Rex Chaney Classic Results

The Murray State men's golf team competed at the Morehead State Rex Chaney Classic Saturday at Eagle Trace Golf Course in Morehead, Kentucky.

The event to honor Morehead State coaching legend and Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Famer, Dr. Rex Chaney, was a 36-hole one-day shootout with a total of 16 players from Murray State, Morehead State, Pikeville and Transylvania.

The Racers saw Connor Coombs and Avery Edwards finish first and second in the event. Coombs had scores of 67-72-139 (5-under-par), while Edwards carded scores of 71-70=141. For the sophomore Connor Coombs, it was his first collegiate victory. Other Murray State results included Dalton Bagwell in sixth place on scores of 69-82=151, with James Boone and Justin Wendling sharing ninth place. Wendling had scores of 79-76=155 and Boone had scores of 72-83=155.

Murray State gets back to team golf in their final event of the fall (Oct. 15-16) when they play in the APSU Intercollegiate at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.
