Adebayo, Turley Sweep OVC Weekly Honors

Evelyn Adebayo and Macey Turley of the Murray State women's basketball team swept the OVCs weekly honors Tuesday. Adebayo was named Player and Newcomer of the Week, while Turley was named Freshman of the Week.
Adebayo proved this week, that no matter the opponent, she can play at a high level. The junior averaged 22 points and 13 rebounds over two games and was an impressive 13-for-15 from the free throw line. On Tuesday, the transfer scored a career-high 23 points and tied her career high for rebounds at 13 on the road at Big Ten member Illinois. On Thursday against NAIA-member Bethel (TN), Adebayo once again had 13 boards and this time scored 21 points.
The 13-for-15 performance at the charity stripe came via a 6-for-6 night at Illinois and a 7-for-9 effort against Bethel. In addition, the England native shot 38.9 percent from the floor, 37.5-percent from 3-point range and averaged 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game
Turley turned in a solid effort on the week averaging 14.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game over a pair of contests. In the win over Bethel (TN), the freshman had 15 points, six rebounds and six assists, while scoring 13 points and dishing out four assists at Illinois. The Murray native shot nearly 50-percent from the floor on the week, while also adding 1.5 steals per game.
Tuesday's sweep marks the first time since the OVC expanded to three weekly awards for 1985-1986 season that the Racers have won all three awards and the first time any OVC team has accomplished the feat since UT Martin did it in January of 2017. The honor marks the first Player of the Week award for Adebayo and second Newcomer of the Week, while Turley has now the Freshman of the Week three times.
