Coombs 15th At Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

Murray State freshman Connor Coombs led the Murray State men's golf squad with a spot in 15^th place at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular being played at the Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Coombs, carded scores of 74-75=149 to get a spot in 15^th place in the field of 85 players. Coombs is in the event as an individual and not part of the five players that count toward the Racers' team score.

The Racers begin Sunday's final round in 10^th place in the field of 14 teams after scores of 314-307=621, ahead of Presbyterian College (625), Florida A&M (626) and Hofstra (654) and just behind ninth place George Mason (611) and eighth place Bethune-Cookman (610).

Justin Wendling was the top player among the MSU team with scores of 74-75=149 and a spot in 36^th place, while Austin Knight was in 41^st place on rounds of 80-75=155. Gabe Wheeler and Lance Davis shared 44^th place. Wheeler posted scores of 79-77=156 and Davis had scores of 78-78=156. Avery Edwards withdrew after a first round 82.

TCU was the leader after rounds of 304-281-585, with USC Upstate (590), Indiana (594), Toledo (595) and Florida Atlantic (599) making up the top-6.

A field of 85 players is taking on the El Campeon Course at Mission Inn at a distance of 6,834 yards and it's playing to a par of 72.

David Ravetto of TCU is the medalist leader after scores of 70-69=139.
