Weather Change
The series schedule has been altered due to forecasted rain for Saturday in Murray. Friday will now feature a doubleheader with game one beginning at 2 p.m. There will be no game Saturday, with the series finale still set for 1 p.m., Sunday.
First Pitch
No. 25 and OVC-leading Tennessee Tech comes to Reagan Field for a three-game set riding the nation's longest winning streak at 17 games. TTU is 10-2 on the road this season while the Racers are 13-4 at Reagan Field. MSU is coming off a 14-11 loss Wednesday at home to Austin Peay while the Golden Eagles defeated Middle Tennessee 14-2.
Inside The Matchup
Each of the past three seasons have been series sweeps by one of the squads. TTU swept the Racers in Cookeville in 2015 and 2017 while MSU took all three the last time they played in Murray back in 2016. The Racers are 41-29-1 all-time at home against the Golden Eagles. MSU is 6-3 over the last three home series against TTU.
Grand Salami
Jaron Robinson hit the second grand slam of the season for MSU in the April 11 contest against Austin Peay. Grant Wood hit the first grand salami for the Racers earlier this season, also against the Govs.
Home Cookin'
MSU is 13-4 overall this season at Reagan Field and is 5-1 in conference contests in Murray. The Racers are batting .330 as a team at home this year and are averaging over nine runs per contest.
Scouting Tennessee Tech
The 25th-ranked Golden Eagles boast the top offense in the OVC and arguably the best offense in the country. TTU leads the nation in batting average (.358), scoring (11.2 runs per), slugging percentage (.633), on-base percentage (.450) and home runs (72). Brennon Kaleiwahea and Kevin Strohschein lead the team in batting with a .405 and .404 average, respectively. A trio of Golden Eagles (Strohschein, John Ham and Trevor Putzig) leads the squad with 10 home runs each while Putzig leads the way with 43 RBIs. Alex Junior leads TTU with 50 runs scored while Ham leads the way with 23 extra-base hits. Colin Harris and Trevor Putzig have a team-best four stolen bases each.
Travis Moths leads the TTU pitching staff with six wins, 49 strikeouts and 43.2 innings pitched this season while out of the bullpen, Ethan Roberts has appeared in a team-high 11 contests and has six saves with a 2.63 ERA. The Golden Eagles have a team ERA of 5.07 and are led by Matt Bragga who is in his 15th season at TTU.
