Tennessee Tech used four home runs, including three in game two, to take both games of a doubleheader from the Murray State softball team, Friday at Tech Softball Field in Cookeville.

In game one, the Racers pounded out seven hits in the contest, but were only able to plate one run, while stranding six. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles scored five runs on eight hits including the first of what be three home runs in the doubleheader by Raegan Sparks. Brenna Finck was 2-for-3 to lead to Murray State in the game, while Madison Culver drove in the lone run of the game in the sixth.

In game two, the Racers scored four in the first inning on two hits and two Tennessee Tech errors to take an early 4-0 lead. However, Sparks would blast a solo home run in the fourth and a three-run shot in the fifth to tie the game at four.

Murray State had runners at second and third in the seventh, thanks to a single from Finck and a double for Culver, but left them on the base paths along with five others in the contest. With one out in the bottom of the seventh and Sparks looming in the lineup, Taylor Thomas ended the game herself with a solo shot to right field for the win and the Golden Eagles third round-tripper of the game.

Culver led Murray State in game two by going two-for-four with a run and a RBI.

The Racers return to action Wednesday to close out their non-conference slate at Memphis at 5 p.m.
