The Murray State softball team completed a perfect weekend with a pair of wins, 7-1 and 11-3, over Tennessee State Saturday at Tiger Field in Nashville
In game one, the Racers were first on the board in the third with an RBI-single from Brenna Finck that score Logan Braundmeier, who kicked off the frame with a single of her own.

The score remained 1-0 until the sixth when Lillie Goetz began the frame with a triple and was then brought home on a sacrifice fly from Madison Culver to make it 2-0. However, Tennessee State cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning when Reese Weber singled down the right field line to score Sarah Snell from third.

Despite the run, Murray State answered in a big way in the seventh scoring five runs on four hits to push the lead to 7-1. In the bottom of the seventh, Haven Campbell finished out her second complete game of the weekend and retired the Tigers for MSU's third straight win.

Campbell went seven complete innings in the opener and gave up no earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Finck and Logan Braundmeier were both 2-for-3 in the game to lead Murray State, while Goetz was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Madison Culver also had a solid day at the plate where she was 1-for-3 and drove in three runs.

In game two, the Racers took an early 3-0 lead in the first thanks to a double from Goetz and a single from Culver. However, the Tigers were able to tie the game in the third by manufacturing runs using a combination of bunts, walks and stolen bases.

The score remained tied until the top of the fifth when the bats came alive for the Racers. Murray State score eight runs on eight hits in the final three inning of the game, including home runs from Goetz and Macey Hale, to put the game away and give MSU its fourth straight win.

Ellison Barrett picked up the first win of her career in the game by allowing no runs on two hits with three strikeouts and no walks over the final 4.2 innings of the game. Goetz was a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBIs in the game and was a triple shy of the cycle, while Braundmeier was a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a double and a triple. Erika Downey also had a big day at the dish, as she went 4-for-5.

Murray State now takes two days off before travelling to Morehead State Tuesday for a rare midweek OVC doubleheader.
