Inside the Matchup
The Racers are 2-0 all-time against the Hornets, having won in both 2016 and 2017 at Reagan Field. Ryan Perkins led MSU in the win last season with three RBIs while Jaron Robinson was 2-for-2 at the dish with a ribbie and a pair of walks. HSSU is 10-7 on the road this season and is ranked No. 2 in the country in HBCU baseball.
Home Cookin'
With Wednesday's win over Evansville, the Racers improve their record at home to 12-3 on the season. As a team, MSU is hitting .331 and is scoring just over nine runs per game in 2018 at Reagan Field. The Racers are also 5-1 in conference tilts at JRF.
Gutsy Grant
MSU freshman Grant Wood came through in the clutch again for the Racers against Evansville as he delivered a two-out double in the bottom of the eighth to break the 9-9 tie with the Purple Aces on the way to an 11-9 victory. It was Wood's team-leading, fourth game-winning RBI of the season.
