Racers & Knight Fourth With 18 To Play At Big Blue Event

Through the first 36 holes of play, the Murray State men's golf team finds itself in a fourth place spot at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate being played this week at Hermitage Golf Club in Old Hickory, Tennessee.

The Racers managed scores of 295-290=585 and stand in fourth in the field of 13 squads taking on the Presidents Reserve course. UT Martin (574) was the leader after two rounds of play, while host Tennessee State (578), Wright State (578), Murray State (585) and Evansville (587) made up the top-5.

After finishing sixth here a year ago, MSU's Austin Knight had a spot in fourth place in a field of 80 competitors on scores of 71-72=143. Other MSU scores and places included Gabe Wheeler in 10th place with rounds of 75-70=145 and Connor Coombs in 20th place on rounds of 73-75=148. Lance Davis was in 25th place after scores of 76-73=149 and Justin Wendling was in 48th place after scores of 76-79=155. MSU's Avery Edwards was in the event as an individual and scored 77 in round one before withdrawing for round two.

UTM's Hunter Richardson and Nick Wolf shared first place in the medalist race each at 140.

The teams return Tuesday morning for the final 18 holes that begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
