Racers Fall To Govs In Season Finale

In game one, the Racers were shutout despite outhitting Austin Peay, 7-5. Murray State also left seven stranded on the base paths, compared to just three by the Govs.
Jensen Striegel led MSU in the game by going 2-for-3, while Erika Downey had her team's lone extra-base hit in the game, a double in the fifth. Haven Campbell took the loss in the circle for Murray State, despite tying her season-high for strikeouts with seven.
In the second game, the Racers erupted for four hits in the opening stanza and took an early 4-0 lead. However, the Govs would then score eight straight runs, including a five-run third inning. Austin Peay kept Murray State scoreless until the seventh when Lillie Goetz belted her third home run of the season, a two-run shot that pulled the Racers to within two at 8-6. That, however, would be MSU's final runs of the year, as APSU held on for the 8-6 win.
Striegel again led Murray State in the game at 2-for-3, this time with two runs scored and a double.
With the losses Murray State finishes the season at 16-36 overall and 6-16 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
