Racers & Holmslykke Take Runner Up Honors At Banister Classic

Final Results

The Murray State Racers came home with a runner-up showing at the Chris Banister Classic women's golf tournament at Silver Springs Golf Course in Glencoe, Alabama.

MSU gained a shot on Jacksonville State in the final round, but ended up three shots off the Gamecock's pace. The Racers bested their score in the second and third rounds as they carded scores of 304-303-300=907, while JSU had scores of 301-302-301=904. Austin Peay (313-312=320=945) placed third.

Murray State's Linette Holmslykke placed second in the field of 40 players on scores 74-72-75=221, while Sarah McDowell placed fourth in her first event in the starting lineup on scores of 76-77-71=224. It was a ninth-place finish for Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria on scores of 77-77-77=231. Raeshya Surendran placed 11^th on scores of 77-81-78=236 and Jane Watts was in 12^th place after rounds of 83-77-77=237.

MSU's Anna Moore played the event as a solo player and shot scores of 78-83-77=238 for a finish of 14^th place.

The medalist winner was Paula Vega of Jacksonville State who carded scores 69-73-73=215.

The Silver Springs Golf Course played to a par-72 and 6,058 yards.

The Racers continue their fall season (Oct. 1-2) with an appearance at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.
