Adebayo, Turley Claim OVC Honors Again

For the second week in a row, Evelyn Adebayo and Macey Turley of the Murray State women's basketball team swept the OVC Newcomer and Freshman of the Week awards, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
Adebayo averaged a double-double for the second third straight week with her ninth and tenth double-doubles of the season. The junior scored 12 against Eastern Illinois and added 20 at SIUE. On the boards, she pulled down the most rebounds by a Racer this season with against the Panthers, followed by the second most, at 14, against the Cougars. In addition, Adebayo was 12-for-14 at the charity stripe on the week including an 8-for-8 effort against EIU.
At Eastern Illinois, Turley was hot from 3-point range going 4-for-7 to lead the Racers with 20 points. On Saturday at SIUE, she put together, statistically, arguably her most complete game of the season with 16 points, four assists and a career-high seven rebounds.
For Adebayo, Tuesday's honor marked the sixth time this season that she had been named Newcomer of the Week, while Turley has now been named Freshman of the Week five times.Adebayo, Turley and the rest of the Racers return the The Bank Thursday night to take on the three-time defending OVC champions Belmont at 5 p.m.
