Liles To Be Honored As Part of CFB150 Celebration
10/29/2019 2:33:00 PM | Football
The game of college football turns 150 this year and all season long teams from around the country and across all divisions are celebrating the game that defines fall Saturdays on campuses from Bangor, Maine to Honolulu, Hawai'i. As part of the celebration, OVC members will honor former student-athletes from their campus that exemplify the best of the game of football. These are former player that have used the many tools provided to them during their time as a college football student-athlete to make an impact on their communities.
For Murray State, few better exemplify these principles than Jeff Liles, the City of Murray's current chief of police. Liles has served as the top police officer in Murray since 2010, around the same time he became involved with the football team again, after having played for the Racers in 1987 and 1988. Since 2010, Liles has served as the team's escort on road trips and can be found every Saturday on the sidelines, not too far from head coach Mitch Stewart. However, his relationships with players, his service to the community and the example he sets for young men every day are what makes him an embodiment of everything that is good about college football.
This Saturday, Liles will find himself on the field for once when he is honored for his service to the Murray State football team and the City of Murray. The brief ceremony will take place prior to Saturday's game against Tennessee Tech at 1 p.m. For more on Chief Liles, click on the article in the links section from a profile done earlier this year.
