Hawthorne Named OVC Newcomer of the Week

Junior Laci Hawthorne became the first Racer to earn a 2019-20 OVC weekly honor Tuesday, when she was named the OVC Newcomer of the Week.
The junior college transfer helped the Racers to a 1-1 week by averaging 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds on the week fueled by an 18-point, 12-rebound effort at Mississippi Valley. Hawthorne, a Fort Worth, Texas native finished just under .500 from the floor on the week after going 9-for-16 at MVSU. In addition to her one steal and one assist, she also finished with three blocks on the week and just four turnovers.
Hawthorne and the rest of Racers will be back in action Tuesday night in their final game of a four-game road trip at Lipscomb at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
