Racers Cap Record-Year With Strong Director’s Cup Showing

For just the second time in its 26-year history, the Murray State Racer finished in the top 100 standings for the Division I Learfield IMG College Director's Cup. The Racers racked up a program-record 185 point en route to finishing in 100th place out of 347 NCAA Division I institutions in the 2018-19 edition of the contest.
The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
The Racers earned points from five different sports this season, led by 80 points and a fourth-place finish by rifle. Men's basketball followed with 50 points, while women's soccer and volleyball each had 25. Women's golf rounded out the points for Murray State in the spring with five.
The 100th place finish marks the best by Murray State since 1997-98 when it finished 96th while totaling 70 points. The 185 points this season continues an upward trajectory for the Racers as they have posted their first, third and fifth highest totals in program-history each of the past three seasons.
