Racers Open 2020 With Win Over UTM

Mid-season addition Matias Kiuru had an impressive debut for the Murray State rifle team Saturday, as he helped lead the Racers past UT Martin, 4659-4592, at the Skyhawk Rifle Range in Martin, Tennessee.
Kiuru shot an impressive 581 in smallbore and added a 589 in air rifle for a match-high aggregate of 1170. Anna Scheer also had an impressive outing for Murray State as her match-high 596 in air rifle paired with her 573 smallbore to finish just one point behind Kiuru in aggregate at 1169. Emily Fitgerald and Lauren Frealy also came up big Saturday with each posting a new career-high in air rifle at 589 and 586, respectively. As a team, the Racers shot an even 2300 in smallbore and followed with a 2362 in sir rifle, which was just three points off of their season-high.
Murray State returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Jacksonville State to take on the Gamecocks.
