Racer Golf Signs Four For 2020

Murray State women's golf coach Velvet Milkman announced the signing of four student-athletes that will join the Racers in the fall as freshmen.

The talented foursome includes Madison Cecil (Lexington, Kentucky), Lauren Gilchrist (Marion, Ky.), Briana McMinn (O'Fallon, Illinois) and Emma Payne (Owensboro, Ky.).

"I am very excited about these players joining our program because, they are quality student-athletes of high character and possess a strong work ethic," said Coach Milkman. "They will give it their all both on the golf course and in the classroom. They've already achieved success at the high school level and I look forward to watching them build on their success and develop into very good collegiate players. They are all very excited to be Racers and will represent our program in a first class manner."

Madison Cecil - Paul Laurence Dunbar High School - Lexington, KY
Madison Cecil joins the Racers from Dunbar High School in Lexington, Ky. As a senior in the fall of 2019, she was named Kentucky All-State after four runner-up finishes and six top-5's. As a junior in 2018, she won the KY Region 9 championship and was KY Second Team All-State.

Lauren Gilchrist - Crittenden County High School - Marion, KY
Lauren Gilchrist joins the Racers from Crittenden County High School in Marion, Ky., where she was a six-time qualifier for Kentucky Class-A State Tournament. As a senior in the fall of 2019, she finished third at the KY Region 1 championship. She was a three-time All-A Region One Champion. In 2019, she won the Paducah Tilghman Invitational.

Briana McMinn - O'Fallon High School - O'Fallon, IL
Briana McMinn joins the Racers from O'Fallon High School in O'Fallon, Illinois. As a senior in 2019, she won four individual championships and set the school all-time scoring record. She led her team to four-straight conference titles as she won a total of 13 medalist titles in her prep career. McMinn was named All-Area by the Post-Dispatch.

Emma Payne - Owensboro Catholic High School - Owensboro, KY
Emma Payne joins the Racers from Owensboro Catholic High School - Owensboro, Ky. She finished her prep career by winning the KY Region 2 championship in back-to-back seasons. She placed sixth at the Kentucky All-A State Tournament. She also had two runner-up finishes at the Owensboro City Championship and the Country Creek Players Series.
