Â
It doesn't happen very often, but when a football team produces not one, but two 100-yard rushers in a
single game, it makes one take notice.

Before we get to when the program played game No. 1, you have to go back to May 2008 when Murray State Athletics announced plans to begin competing in college softball. As the only team in the OVC that wasn't playing softball, the Racers became a softball playing member in the Ohio Valley Conference in the spring of 2010.
Â
656 days after the program was announced, the Racers played their first game at Ole Miss against SIUE, where Jay Pyron was head coach and current head coach Kara Amundson was assistant.
Â
And that brings us to a lot of firsts as would happen with any new team.
Â
In that first 2010 game against SIUE, Megan Glosser was MSU's batter up and she walked. She also got MSU's first stolen base moments later.
Kristen Broadway the Racers' first pitcher and she recorded the Racers first strikeout in the first inning. Stephanie Mattocks recorded MSU's first hit. It was a single leading off the second inning. Same inning, MSU's first extra base hit came from Stephanie Edwards on a double that plated the first RBI for the Racers when Mattocks scored. Fast forward to a day later, when Kaitlyn England blasted the first home run in Racer history in the third inning in a game against Centenary.
Â
It wasn't until March 3, 2010 in which the Racers scored their first win after an 0-6 start. It came against Evansville 6-2 in the Murray City Park where the Racers played their first four seasons.Â
Racer Field, the current home of MSU Softball opened on campus on March 15, 2014 when the Racers hosted UT Martin.
