At Murray State

The 2025-26 school year marks Winder's 25th with Murray State athletics and 21st in athletics communications.
Oversees the daily operation of sports communications, Racer Radio, television production and Racers Podcast Central.
Has been in charge of men's basketball communications since the 2005-06 season with Coach Mick Cronin and has since worked with other outstanding coaches including currently with Steve Prohm and also Billy Kennedy and Matt McMahon.
In all, Winder has been part of the Murray State men’s basketball program and seven trips to the NCAA Tournament as communications contact.
Has handled the media organization for All-America and NBA Draft selections Isaiah Canaan, Cameron Payne and Ja Morant.
Was part of the athletics transition team under AD Kevin Saul of Murray State's departure from the Ohio Valley Conference and entry into the Missouri Valley Conference in 2022.
Has led the Murray State Hall of Fame committee since 2019 where the group has enshrined 55 new members as of 2025.
Serves as a member of the MVC Hall of Fame committee.
In 2025, was communications contact for the Murray State Baseball team that was a co-MVC regular season champion, MVC Tournament Champion, NCAA Oxford Regional. Champion, Durham Super Regional Champion and qualifier for the College World Series.
Upon returning to Murray State in 2001, Winder spent the first part of his tenure in fundraising and marketing under AD E.W. Dennison.
In 2005 under AD Allen Ward, Winder became assistant athletics director for media relations and was promoted to associate AD in 2017.
Has served MSU Athletics during the tremendous growth as members of the MVC under AD Nico Yantko.

Before MSU

Graduated in 1987 from Murray State with a degree in radio-TV.
Served as the radio voice of Southeast Missouri State from 1988-91.
Worked at WPSD as sports anchor/reporter from 1991-01.
Hosted the Racer Report television show from 1993 to 2015, while at WPSD and MSU Athletics.
Played baseball at Murray State from 1983-87 for legendary coach Johnny Reagan.
Played three seasons for MSU and became an All-Ohio Valley Conference first baseman selection in 1987.
Holds the OVC and MSU single-game record with 12 RBIs which was set in 1986 in a game against Iowa..

Personal

Dave and his wife Janice, have two grown children. Daughter, Meagan and her husband Travis Palmer and son, Matthew and his wife Leah.
Four grandchildren: boys: Woods and Crew, girls: Olivia and Elsie Mae.
Children Meagan and Matthew and their spouses all are Murray State graduates.
Faithful Labrador, Sarge, is also a Racer fan.
