Lodge Inks Five on Signing Day

Newcomers have the ability to make an instant impact for Racer Soccer
Murray State women's soccer is proud to reveal its 2021-22 signing class, as announced by head coach Matt Lodge on Wednesday. The class features five student-athletes from four different states that will undoubtedly make an impact on and off the field as they join the Racer family to continue their athletic and academic careers at Murray State.

"I'm looking forward to getting our 2021 class on campus and working with the team. This is the smallest class we've had since I have been here at Murray State, but one that is going to have a big impact on the program. These five young women possess the athleticism and mentality it takes to compete for OVC titles. It is a balanced group of attackers and defenders," said Lodge.

Ella Fraser – 5'3" – Forward – Nottingham, N.H. (Exeter HS)
Fraser will come to Murray State after a standout career at Exeter High School where she led the Blue Hawks to a State Championship in 2019 when she scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Londonderry in the title game. The big-game performance capped a campaign that saw the first team All-State selection finish with 22 goals and 13 assists on the year. A year later, she would net two more goals in Exeter's 5-0 victory over Windham in the 2020 State Championship to claim back-to-back titles behind 33 consecutive victories for the program.

The 5'3" forward also collected a plethora of accolades as a track athlete highlighted by first team All-State recognition in the 300m, 4x200m, 55m, and 4x400m events. She was a champion in the 300m and 4x200m - setting a school record in the latter. Fraser also set a school record when she attended nationals for sprint medley. In outdoor track, she was a champion in the 4x100m and the 4x400m - the second of which was part of a school record.
Off the field, the four-time Scholar Athlete recipient maintains a 3.53 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Coach Lodge on Ella: "Ella is a forward who fits our system and style of play. She is incredibly quick and is constantly looking to put teams on the back foot. Ella is a natural goal scorer, using her pace to get in behind opponents. Her work rate alone generates chances in front of goal. We are excited for Ella to come in and prove herself as a goal scoring threat in the OVC."

Reyna Mijangos – 5'4" – Forward – Cincinnati, Ohio (Lakota East HS)
A forward out of Cincinnati, Ohio Mijangos comes to Murray State after a fantastic career leading the Thunderhawks of Lakota East High School. The All-Greater Miami Conference selection ranked third in Butler County in scoring. Off the field, the four-year honor roll student maintains a 4.0 GPA and is a member of Young Life and knitting club while also participating in HOSA and Relay for Life.
Coach Lodge on Reyna: "Reyna is a very dynamic winger who will bring some flare and creativity to our attack. She is a technical player who is able to unlock teams - creating goal-scoring opportunities for herself and teammates. Reyna loves to dribble with the ball and Racer Nation will love watching her play. We are excited to have Reyna join us early this spring."

Morgan Bodker – 5'8" – Defender – Sunbury, Ohio (Big Walnut HS)
A 5'8" defender out of Sunbury, Ohio, Bodker had a terrific career at Big Walnut High School where she made an instant impact for the Golden Eagles - leading her side to a pair of District and Regional Titles with back-to-back appearances in the State Tournament Semifinals in 2017 and 2018. She also earned Rookie of the Year honors to pair with All-Conference honorable mention distinction in her first year. 2018 would see Bodker make the leap to first team All-Conference and All-District to go along side with "This Week Sports Super 12" Honorable mention honors and a Defensive MVP award. In 2019, Bodker would repeat those conference and district honors while also adding All-Ohio second team recognition and an induction to the Big Walnut Wall of Fame to her list of accolades.  Â

Off the field, the three-time Scholar Athlete maintains a 3.75 GPA and is a member of Spanish Honors Society. She will now play alongside her sister, Grace Bodker, at Murray State who appeared in all 19 matches for the Racers during her freshman season in 2019.

Coach Lodge on Morgan: "Morgan is a defender who can play anywhere along the back line and sitting midfield. She is very technical and composed on the ball always looking to build and begin the attack. Morgan has a very high soccer IQ, always organizing and helping those around her. Morgan has an unmatched work ethic and we cannot wait time have her join us early this spring."

Angela Gierhart – 5'6" Midfielder – Murray, Ky. (Murray HS)
From right here in Murray, Kentucky, Gierhart built quite the resume over her four years at Murray High School. A three-sport athlete, Gierhart played four years of soccer, basketball, and softball for the Tigers – earning the KHSAA's "Triple Threat" distinction for competing at the varsity level in all three.

Gierhart received KHSAA All-State Honorable Mention recognition and was previously a two-time All-Region selection - earning second team honors in 2018 and first team recognition in 2020. She also landed a spot on the statewide All "A" All-Tournament Team after leading her side to an All "A" state tournament appearance. Great performances in big games was a consistent theme for Gierhart as she also earned Region All-Tournament Team honors in back-to-back seasons. In all, Gierhart found the net 50 times to go along with 49 assists during her career at Murray High School. Additionally, she lifted the 2017 Kentucky President's Cup Trophy with her club team – the Marshall County Dynamo.

The two-year soccer captain was also a two-year captain of the basketball team where she led the Tigers to District, Region, and All "A" championships in 2018. They would repeat as District and Region champs the following year with Gierhart landing a spot on the District and Region All-Tournament Teams. Â She was also an All-District and All-Region selection for softball.

In the classroom, the four-time KHSAA All-Academic honoree maintains a 4.12 GPA and earned the Kentucky House of Representatives Citation of Achievement in 2018.
Coach Lodge on Angela: "Angela is a local product who I've known for a few years now. It has been fun to watch her develop into a great athlete and soccer player. Angela can play anywhere in midfield and up top, she is athletic and has good technical ability. We look forward to working with Angela and helping her in her continue her development on and off the field."

Brooke Hines – 5'6" – Defender – Noblesville, Ind. (Noblesville HS)
A 5'6" defender out of Noblesville, Indiana, Hines is set to don a Racer uniform after a standout career at Noblesville High School where she led the Millers to a State Championship in 2019. Hines guided her side to four-straight conference championships to go along with a pair of sectional titles. The All-District selection also played club for the Indy Premier Soccer Club that competed in the U.S. Youth Soccer's National League. In the classroom, Hines maintains a 4.11 GPA.

Coach Lodge on Brooke: "Brooke is a center back who brings in some high level playing experience from both club and high school. She will add depth at the back and bring in a hard work ethic, toughness and composure on the ball. We couldn't be happier to have Brooke join us next fall and help us challenge for championships during her time at Murray State."
