A near season-high 12 3-pointers was not enough to make up for the Murray State women's basketball team's lack of success in the paint, as the Racers fell, 96-81, to Tennessee State Saturday night at the Gentry Center in Nashville.

Tennessee State dominated the Murray State inside Saturday as it scored 48 points in the paint, while limiting the Racers to just 28. Even a huge night from 3-point range where the Racers went 12-for-37 as a team, was unable to make up for the large gap in points in the paint.

Alexis Burpo led Murray State in the game with 22 points to go along with 8 rebounds, while Macey Turley followed with 15 points and team-high five assists. Macie Gibson led the Racers on the boards with nine Saturday, while Laci Hawthorne and G'Torria Swinton followed with eight and seven, respectively.

Murray State will close out a three-game road stretch Thursday at Austin Peay in a First Financial Bank Battle of the Border matchup. Tipoff from the Dunn Center in Clarksville is scheduled for 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
