Hawthorne Ends Season With Tenth Newcomer Honor

For the tenth and final time this season, Laci Hawthorne has been named as the OVC Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Laci Hawthorne ended the regular season with an emphatic 14.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. On Thursday, the junior put up 19 points and nine rebounds to go along with a perfect 7-for-7 performance at the free throw line. On Saturday, Hawthorne was just one off her career-high in rebounds with 16 while also scoring nine points. In addition, the transfer shot 40-percent from the floor on the week and added three assists, three blocks and a steal.

Hawthorne and her teammates return to action Wednesday when they travel to Evansville, Indiana for the quarterfinals of the 2020 OVC Women's Basketball Championships against top-seeded UT Martin. Tip-off from the Ford Center is scheduled for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
