Overtime With Fred Walker
1. What's your favorite thing about coaching your position?
The fact that I am able to be myself. I have energy, and for me as someone who has coached both quarterbacks and wide receivers, when you coach quarterbacks you have to be a tad bit more reserved sometimes. However, when you coach receivers, you are kind of able to show your emotions a little more, when you are excited and not-excited. Whereas with quarterback, you have to be more even-keeled, as some quarterbacks have a tendency to be.
Â
2. What is your favorite stadium that you have ever played or coached in?
I think my favorite would have to be Davis-Wade Stadium at Mississippi State. You get 60,000 people in there with cowbells ringing, there is no better feeling in the world. It's a totally different atmosphere than what most people are used to. I got to experience as both the home team and as a visitor. The most difficult, however, and people always laugh at me when I say this is, but for me was Troy. Back in 2012, when I was with Mississippi State and we were ranked 14th in the country, those fans were something else. I have really never seen anything like it and then you add in the fact that they are so close you your bench, it's a scary site.
Â
3. What song gets you pumped up for a game?
Probably, Vice Versa by Pastor Troy. I listen to that one before every game, I think it's been seven years running now.
