2-Minute Drill: Behind The Scenes Edition – Matt Kelly
4/17/2020 4:48:00 PM | General
Murray State senior associate athletic director Matt Kelly joins Parker Griffith on the latest "Behind The Scenes Edition" of "2-Minute Drill" for an inside look at his job and experiences. In addition to the above video, check out below as we take off the timer and give Matt Kelly three more questions in a GoRacers.com exclusive, "2-Minute Drill: Overtime"
Overtime With Matt Kelly
1. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
I had a boss early in my career who told me to work hard and to always volunteer for duties and responsibilities that are a little bit outside of your normal job. His reasoning was that it showed people that you would fill in in a pinch and that you can be counted on. It makes you very valuable to your organization if you can do more than one thing.
2. What's the coolest thing you have gotten to do in your career?
I have had the privilege of being on the sideline for multiple national championships and I have had a former student-athlete call me from the field after he played in the Super Bowl. That was pretty cool that someone I worked with would thing enough of me to make that phone call post-game just to say "Hi" and ask if I watched. I have been fortunate in my career to be around some really great people and participate in some really cool things.
3. If you could swap jobs with anyone in our department who would it be?
That is a tough question because I am not sure that would be any good at any of the other jobs in our department. However, I would actually like to work in athletics communication. There are times when I think athletic communications people have the coolest job in the department b because they get to write the stories, take the pictures and post the videos, essentially telling our story to the world.
