Racer Golf Freshman Walker Beck Makes Hole In One
4/30/2020 7:39:00 AM | Men's Golf
Walker Beck of the Murray State men's golf team made a hole-in-one this week in his hometown of Newburgh, Indiana at Rolling Hills Country Club.
Â
Beck, a freshman on Coach Eddie Hunt's Racer squad, came to the par-3 15th hole and selected a 4-iron. His tee shot from 218 yards was true and landed 12 feet short of the flag and trickled in for an ace.
Â
"What makes this hole-in-one really amazing was that the greens had just been aerated and there was those little holes all over the green and it still made it to the cup," Beck said. "The hole has a noodle in it and the ball still went into that which was a surprise."
Â
It was Beck's third career hole in one. The first happened in 2008 when he was seven years old and the second in 2016 when he was a freshman in high school.
Â
Beck wasn't the only one to make a hole-in-one in his group. Keith Bratton aced the par-3 11th hole from 118 yards only four holes before Beck's ace.
Â
Beck was having a successful first season with the Murray State Racers, when the season was halted because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 12 rounds, he had a scoring average of 74.5. His best finish was a 17th place showing at the MSU Invitational last September with scores of 73-68-74=215.
