Overtime With Velvet Milkman
1. Do you have any superstitions or rituals on tournament days?
I don't really have anything like that. I know some coaches are superstitious, but I'm not. When it's tournament day, I'm just trying to focus on the needs of the players and what they want. Most of the time it's the same routine, but sometimes it changes, but overall no superstitions for me.
2. Who are some mentors you have had in your career?
Two that stick out in my mind are Margaret Simmons and Connie Keasling. When I started they were both very helpful and helped me a lot and taught me a lot. They are two first-class ladies that I respect a lot and learned a lot from them.
3. What is the coolest thing you have gotten do to in your job?
Mentor young women and developing relationships with them, that's a lot of fun. Seeing them grow up during college and get their degree. Graduation day is my favorite day, getting to see them walk across the stage.
