Former Murray State Football ace quarterback, Casey Brockman, made his first ace on the golf course when he made a hole-in-one at McDonald GC in Evansville, Indiana.
Brockman's first career hole-in-one came at McDonald's par-3 No. 7 hole using a 7-iron from 170 yards. Brockman's playing partner, Farren B. Shanks, witnessed the shot after he just met Brockman on the first tee.
"I had just made a triple bogey and followed that up with a quadruple bogey," Brockman said. "I was ready to sell my golf clubs and take up tennis. Then this happened! Thankfully, Farren was there to see it, or no one would've believed me!"
Brockman is the third in his family to make a hole-in-one, following his parents, Tab and Beth.
Casey Brockman was a homegrown quarterback from Murray's Calloway County High School when he joined the Racers as a freshman in 2009. By the time he
was finished in 2012, Brockman was known as "The Wild Horse" and was an All-America selection twice. He closed out his record-setting career by putting his name atop every single game, single season and career passing record in Racer history.
He finished his final season by going 359-for-517 for 3,729 yards and 28 touchdowns. Brockman led the OVC in attempts, completions, yards and total offense, setting new single-season records in all categories. He threw for at least 300 yards in eight games and had four games over 400 yards. He was tops in the nation in completions and completions per game (32.6) and was second in total offense per game (345.6 yards) and completion percentage (.694).
