As part of the #OVCforChange initiative, OVC student-athletes, coaches and administrators will engage in dialogue to help shape a course of action and invoke change on a variety of social issues impacting their lives.
This week's feature is with Murray State senior golfer Quinn Eaton. Eaton, a native of Benton, Kentucky, played in 14 rounds in a shortened season in 2019-20. He is finishing his degree in business administration.

Why is it important to be an advocate for social change/justice?
"Advocating for social change and justice furthers the movement towards a society that is equitable and socially just. Every person deserves to lead a life that offers equal opportunity in addition to a communal sense of belonging."
What are the responsibilities of the individual in regard to issues of social justice?
"Being open in the sense of mind and conversation. We must approach the issues of social injustice collectively and objectively. A willingness to have difficult, transparent conversations while being open-minded can be impactful in understanding our next steps in achieving social justice."
What should we be doing as a society to combat social inequality?
"Encourage uncomfortable conversations. Each person that believes in an impartial, collective society has the responsibility to speak out against social injustice and speak up when equality is threatened."
What other emotions would you like to express about the current state of our society?
"In sports you learn that the team has to act as a collective group in order to succeed. With the level of division in our world today, replicating a locker room mentality would yield extensive societal benefits."
