Harris Shines as Racers Sweep Golden Eagles, Snap Losing Streak

The Racers snapped a five-game losing streak with sweep of Tennessee Tech on Friday night, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.
In just an hour and 26 minutes of play, the Murray State Racers (9-9, 3-5 OVC) snapped their five-game losing streak with a three-set sweep of the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (10-9, 5-3 OVC) on Friday night in Racer Arena, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.
The Racer brought the energy to their first home game in 20 days as they looked to turn around their conference season, bringing home the much needed win.
As a team, the Racers hit a .308 clip, their second-highest attacking % of the season, with six Racers contributing kills.
Alexa Harris led the attack, going errorless on a season-high 17 kills on 31 swings, hitting .548, her most efficient match of the year.
Brooke Lynn Watts had nine kills, eight digs and one solo block while Jayla Holcombe added six kills, one solo block and one block assist in the match.
The defensive effort was led by libero Becca Fernandez with 11 digs. Meanwhile, setter Bailey DeMier recorded 39 assists, two kills, two block assists and one ace.
At the net, Kolby McClelland helped the Racers to six total blocks as she contributed one solo block and three block assists to go along with a nine-kill performance on a .375 attacking %.
As a team, the Racers held the Golden Eagles to a .111 hitting clip, the second-lowest of the season.
Murray State concludes their series with Tennessee Tech tomorrow in Racer Arena at 2:00 p.m. CT.
