Racers Sweep Tigers for Third-Straight Win

Murray State opened homecoming weekend sweeping Tennessee State on Thursday, 25-17, 25-18, 25-20.
The Murray State Racers volleyball team (11-9, 5-5 OVC) opened Murray State's homecoming weekend with a three-set sweep over the Tennessee State Tigers (9-11, 1-10), 25-17, 25-18, 25-20.
This is the Racer's third conference win in a row while the Tigers have dropped seven straight.
Murray State dominated the first two sets, hitting the media timeouts leading 15-8 in each set before cruising to 25-17 and 25-18 victories.
In the third set, the Tigers were up 12-8 before the Racers went on a 9-1 run, including six unanswered, to regain control and complete the sweep, 25-20.
The win was powered by the Racers' .292 attack %, led by Brooke Lynn Watts who went off for 18 kills, hitting .333 %.
Kolby McClelland finished the game with 12 kills and only two errors for a .435 attacking clip and two solo blocks while Jayla Holcombe added nine kills.
Bailey DeMier recorded 40 assists to pair with 12 digs, marking her eighth double-double of the season.
In the back row, Becca Fernandez posted 19 digs with Dahlia Miller collecting nine. Fernandez also served up three aces.
Murray State hosts Tennessee State again tomorrow (Oct. 22) at 6:00 p.m. CT at Racer Arena.
