The Racers in five sets on Friday at UT Martin, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 25-15, 8-15.
The Murray State Racers (8-7, 2-3 OVC) dropped a five-set thriller to the UT Martin Skyhawks (9-10, 5-1 OVC), 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 25-15, 8-15 on Friday night at Skyhawk Fieldhouse in Martin, Tennessee.
The energy was high as the Racers took an early 1-0 set lead before the Skyhawks won the next two sets to take a 2-1 advantage. Murray State forced the winner-take-all with a runaway fourth set victory before falling 15-8 to drop one game under .500 in conference play.
Three Racers finished with double-digit kills in the loss. Brooke Lynn Watts led all hitters with 20 kills and added 10 digs for her third double-double in a row.
Darci Metzger put down a season-high 15 kills on a .500 attacking % while Alexa Harris picked up her first career double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs.
In the back court, Becca Fernandez collected 24 digs followed closely by Dahlia Miller with 21, a career-high for her.
Setter Bailey DeMier paced the Racers to .263 attacking %, tying her season-high 53 assists.
The Racers are back in action tomorrow at Skyhawk Fieldhouse at 11 a.m. CT.
