Holcombe Lights Up in Five-Set Win over SIUE

Murray State wins five-set thriller at SIUE for third-straight win
The Murray State Racers (16-11, 10-7 OVC) won their third-straight game, beating the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars (6-22, 3-14 OVC) in five sets, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 24-26, 15-11 on Friday night at First Community Arena in Edwardsville, Illinois.
It is the second game in a row that Murray State has won after dropping the first set.
The Racer had several players with season bests – Jayla Holcombe lit up tonight, hitting a season-high 21 kills with only four errors for a .425 attacking clip. Holcombe has had double-digit kills in five of the last six games.
Bailey DeMier led the Racer offense to a .238 hitting percentage, dishing out a season-high 62 assists, also digging up 11 balls for her 12th double-double.
Following close behind Holcombe with 20 kills was Brooke Lynn Watts, who posted her fifth double-double picking up 13 digs. Watts also added an ace, a solo block and a block assist.
McClelland also put up big numbers, hitting .348 on 12 kills. She added two aces and a block assist.
Defensively, four Racers had double-digit digs, along with DeMier and Watts, libero Becca Fernandez had 24 digs and Dahlia Miller added 11.
Murray State wraps up their regular season tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT against SIUE at First Community Arena.
