Racers Announce 2021-22 Women's Golf Schedule

The Murray State women's golf team released its 2021-22 schedule that includes nine events leading to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship in April.

In the fall portion of the campaign, the Racers play twice in Missouri. They appear at the Payne Stewart Memorial (Sept. 13-14) at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Springfield for the first time since finishing second in 2018 and play in the Ozarks National Invitational (Oct. 18-20) in Branson for the first time.

The Racers compete at the Austin Peay Invitational (Sept. 27-28) in Springfield, Tenn., at Legacy GC, the first time MSU has played an event there. MSU goes for another good finish (Oct. 10-12) at the Chris Banister Classic in Gadsden, Ala., at Silver Lakes GC. In five appearances since 2015, the Racers have a pair of wins and second place finishes.

2022 finds the Racers playing in Biloxi at Tchefuncta Country Club at the South Alabama Invitational. MSU makes appearances in Jacksonville, Fla. (March 7-8) at the Benbow Collegiate, Gulf Shores, Ala. (March 20-22) at the Bama Beach Bash and Chattanooga, Tenn. (March 27-29) in the Chattanooga Classic.

MSU's home event, the Jan Weaver Invitational (April 8-9) at Miller Memorial GC finds the Racers going for their 11th victory in the 19th playing of the event that honors MSU hall of famer Jan Weaver. The Racers won the 2021 title by two shots over Central Arkansas.

In 2021, having snapped their streak of winning three OVC Championships in a row from 2017-19, MSU looks to win their 13th league championship (April 17-19) at The Shoals GC Fighting Joe course in Muscle Shoals, Ala.

"We are very excited to get our fall season underway and we have a schedule that will give our team a challenge," said Coach Velvet Milkman. "I am also excited for our student-athletes to get to experience some courses for the first time. I am glad to have the OVC Championship back at the Fighting Joe Course, where we won the title in 2014."
