Coombs & Lewis Pace Racers At EKU Intercollegiate

Connor Coombs and Trey Lewis were the top players for the Murray State men's golf team through 36 holes of the EKU Intercollegiate at Arlington Golf Course in Richmond, Kentucky.

Sharing a spot in 21^st place, Coombs posted scores of 71-71=142, while Lewis had rounds of 73-69=142. Other MSU scores and standings included Walker Beck in 49^th position on scores of 74-72=146 and Quinn Eaton in 64^th place after rounds of 74-73=147. Kamaren Cunningham was in 77^th place after scores of 76-73=149.

The Racers carded a 292 in the morning round and shaved seven shots in the afternoon with a 285. MSU's 577 puts them in 10^th place with the final 18 holes to come on Saturday morning. Western Carolina was the leader at 550, with Jacksonville State (556), Dayton (557), Eastern Kentucky (564) and Marshall and Morehead State making up the top-6, each at 567.

There was a three-way tie for medalist honors all at 6-under-par 134 including Kyle Schmidt of Dayton and Jake Peacock and Kyle Kushnir of Western Carolina.

Saturday's final round is a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.
