The Murray State men’s golf played 36 holes on the first day of competition in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Murray State men's golf team took on RidgePointe Country Club Monday with 36 holes of stroke play at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Jay Nimmo paced the Racers with a spot in 15th place in the field of 69 players after scores of 70-75=145. Other scores and standings for Murray State included a 22nd place position for Kamaren Cunningham on rounds of 75-72=147 and Jakob Wellman and Trey Lewis in 47th place. Wellman carded scores of 80-74=154, while Lewis posted rounds of 78-76=154. Tyler Powell was in 56th place on rounds of 81-76=157.

MSU's John Buchanan, who is playing the event as a solo player, carded scores of 77-77=154 and was in 47th place overall and seventh among the 14 individuals in the event.

The Racers were in ninth place after a morning round of 303 and a 297 in the afternoon for a 600 total. The Racers managed to shave six shots from round to round. MSU trails New Orleans and Bradley by three shots. Host, Arkansas State has the lead at 560 with Oklahoma Christian (568), Belmont (575), Valparaiso (580) and Texas-Commerce (592) making up the top-5.

Tuesday's final 18 holes in Jonesboro begin with pairings hitting first shots from the first and 10th holes at 7:45 a.m. The Racers begin their final round with Tyler Powell hitting the first shot of the day at 8:33 a.m. The Racers have Bradley and New Orleans as playing partners.
