Garcia, Stahl & Zieba Pace Racers at Braun Intercollegiate

Steady play by Alma Garcia, McKenna Stahl and Kaitlyn Zieba gave the Murray State women's golf team a trio with a share of ninth place after each carded a 78 in the opening round of the Charles Braun Intercollegiate at Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville, Indiana.

In a tightly bunched leaderboard, the Racer trio were six shots off the lead heading into Tuesday's final day of competition.

The Racers had a spot in fifth place after a score of 317 as they chased fourth place and host, Evansville (313), Bellarmine (312), UIC (309) and leader Austin Peay (305).

Garcia, had a share of the lead among the 18 solo players in the field.

Tuesday's final round has been moved up to the shotgun start of 9 a.m. as the tournament attempts to get ahead of incoming rain.

The Racers are making their first appearance at Oak Meadow CC in program history.
