MSU unable to bounce back from slow start in smallbore
The seventh-ranked Murray State rifle team had an uncharacteristic slow start to Friday's match at Akron's Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range in Ohio. The Racers fought back with a strong showing in air rifle, but ultimately fell, 4689-4672.
Senior Matias Kiuru led all shooters in air rifle on the day with a 595, while freshman Paola Paravati led Murray State in smallbore at 587. Kiuru also posted a match-high aggregate score at 1180 on the day.
Sophomore Andrew Duryea also had a strong showing in air rifle with a 590, with Paravati just one point behind at 589. In smallbore, Kiuru followed Paravati at 585.
Murray State returns to action at the Pinn Shooting Range in Akron Saturday when they battle the 10th-ranked Zips and No. 3 Kentucky in a tri-match. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET.
