Racers Fall in MVC Title Match

Murray State women’s soccer season came to an end with a 1-0 loss in the MVC Title Match
The postseason run by Murray State women's soccer has finally come to a close in a 1-0 loss to Missouri State at Brown Field in Valparaiso, Indiana. The Racers were able to advance to the Missouri Valley Conference Finals in their first season in the league while going 3-1 in postseason play.
After a scoreless first half, Missouri State was able to net the lone goal of the match in the 56th minute to secure the title.
Racers goalkeeper Jamie Skarupsky impressed once again making nine saves while facing 21 shots from the Bears 10 of which were on goal. Skarupsky along with junior defender Audrey Henry and freshman midfielder Tori Schrimpf was named to the MVC All-Tournament team for their stellar performances throughout the postseason.
Schrimpf was one of two Racers to put a shot on goal in the final along with Saraya Young. Hailey Cole, Lauren Payne, Morgan Bodker, and Sydney Etter were each able to put up a shot in the performance. Murray State was able to win the corner kick battle 6-2 in the matchup.
The appearance in a conference championship match is the first for Murray State since 2018. MSU is the lone new member of the Valley to pick up a postseason win this season with Belmont and UIC dropping their first matchups of the tournament.
Coach Matt Lodge has reached 49 career wins in just five seasons at the helm for the Racers.
