Three-Hit Shutout Highlights Racer Victory Over UTEP

Murray State Downed UTEP 6-0 Highlighted by a Three-Hit Shutout
Murray State (16-8) softball earned the win on Thursday over UTEP 6-0 at Racer Field in Murray, Kentucky. The victory extends the MSU win streak to six following wins in the Racer Classic last weekend. The matchup between the Racers and Miners is the first-ever between the two schools.

Kamryn Carcich started in the circle for Murray State and picked up her third victory of the year while going five innings and allowing just one hit on the day. The sophomore struck out four and walked just one in the outing. Emma Olejniczak finished off the shutout by tossing two scoreless relief innings for the Racers.

Offensively, third baseman Gracie Osbron led the charge with a double and a home run in the game for her eighth and fourth of the year, respectively. Sierra Gilmore plated two RBIs on a base knock in the second inning to bring her total to 17 for the season. Lindsey Carrol added a double of her own for her seventh extra-base hit of 2022.

Murray State begins OVC play on Saturday when they travel to SIUE for a three-game set with the Cougars. First pitch of the Saturday doubleheader is set for 12 pm.
