Carter, Kho & Picchi Lead Racers At Bama Beach Bash

The MSU women’s golf squad is competing this week in Gulf Shores, Ala.
The Murray State women's golf squad saw the trio of Payton Carter, Eliza Mae Kho and Ana Picchi lead the way in the opening round of the Bama Beach Bash at Gulf Shores Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The Racer trio all carded a 5-over par 77 in round one and shared a spot in 24th place in the field of 99 players.

Other MSU scores and places included Alma Garcia in 61st place with an 81 and Emma Payne in 74th position with an 82. McKenna Stahl is playing the event as an individual and was in 92nd place after an 86.

The Racers posted a 312 in round one and had a share of seventh place with Little Rock and Jacksonville State. The top-5 included leader Texas State (293), South Alabama (295), Monroe (298), Dartmouth (300) and Georgia State (305).

Federica Tavelli-Westerlund of Texas State was the first round medalist with a 68.

About Murray State Athletics
Located in Murray, Kentucky, the athletics department of Murray State University is a NCAA Division I member and plays in the Football Championship Subdivision. The Racers have 15 programs including men's teams for baseball, basketball, cross country, football and golf and women's teams for basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field and volleyball, as well as a mixed gender rifle team. Currently a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, the Racers will join the Missouri Valley Conference on July 1, 2022.
