Racers Begin Play at Chattanooga Classic

The MSU women’s golf team is playing at Council Fire Golf Club
The Murray State women's golf squad began play at the Chattanooga Classic being contested at the Chattanooga Classic at Council Fire Golf Club.

Payton Carter and Eliza Mae Kho had the best day for the Racers in the opening round as they shared 27th place after each carded a 75. Ana Picchi fired an 81 and was in 78th place, while Emmie Eriksson was in 86th place on a score of 82. Alma Garcia was in 94th place on an 84.

The Racers were in 16th place after the first 18 holes on a team score of 313. North Florida (294), Yale (296), San Antonio and East Carolina (297) and Central Arkansas (298) made up the top-5.

Esme Hamilton of Chattanooga, Ana Gonzalez of UTSA and Julie Bousen Hillestad of East Carolina share the medalist leader after the first round after each posted a 70.

Located in Murray, Kentucky, the athletics department of Murray State University is a NCAA Division I member and plays in the Football Championship Subdivision. The Racers have 15 programs including men's teams for baseball, basketball, cross country, football and golf and women's teams for basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field and volleyball, as well as a mixed gender rifle team. Currently a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, the Racers will join the Missouri Valley Conference on July 1, 2022.
