Carter Makes Big Move At NCAA Regional

Murray State's Payton Carter began play in the second round of the NCAA Women's Golf Franklin Regional in 50^th place. After a splendid second round of a 1-under-par 71, the Racer junior moved up 25 places at the Vanderbilt University at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee.

Carter's big move tied her with Christy Chen of Boston University each with a move up of 25 places.

Carter played the back nine of the North Course first for the second day in a row and made the turn with a 1-over-par 37 with a pair of birdies. She came home with a 2-under-par 34 by making three birdies and only one bogey. Her score line of 77-71=148 puts her in a share of 25^th place with Lauren Walsh of Wake Forest and Allysha Mae Mateo of BYU. The individual leader is Texas A&M's Jennie Park with rounds of 69-66=135.

The third and final round for Carter begins Wednesday morning at 8:55 a.m. from the 1^st tee. She will be paired with Hollie Muse of ETSU and Mikayla Bardwell of Tennessee.

As the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference individual champion from last month, the native of Henderson, Kentucky, Carter is representing the Murray State program and the conference.
