Strickland Earns USWNT Training Camp Invite

Racer softball infielder is one of just 40-players at camp
Redshirt freshman Ella Strickland has earned her way onto the roster of just 40 players that have been invited to compete for a spot on the U. S. Women's National Baseball Team, USA Baseball announced Wednesday.
Strickland was one of 58 players that participated in last week's National Open, which served as the first step in the process of joining the national team. The players were divided into four different teams and played three games each from July 18 to 20, with the roster being trimmed to 40 following the last day of competitions on the 20th.
With a day of training on Thursday, the 40 remaining players will be divided in two teams and play three games over the span of three days, including one at Target Field, home of the MLB's Minnesota Twins. On July 24, USA Baseball will name 20 players to the Women's National Team that will wear the red, white and blue when they compete in the upcoming five-game Friendship Series with Canada, July 28 – Aug. 1 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
