DeMier & Holcombe Tandem Leads Racers to Win Over Marshall

Murray State wins final match Marshall Invite match with a win over hosts.
Murray State volleyball claims the win against Marshall in four sets to close the Marshall Invite with two wins.

Racers' was faced with a resilient foe in the first set having to go through two deuces before claiming the set. They then showed dominance in the second winning the set 25 to 18 before dropping the third in a close 23 to 25 set.

A second wind seem to have blown for the Racers in the fourth as they win the 25 to 16 to seal the match.

Jayla Holcombe became the Racers' main cannon, terrored the Herd early with 11 kills in the first set as she proceeded to lead the Racers with a total of 20 kills made.

Bailey DeMier set a season high of 54 assists made in a match (13.25 per set), building tandems with the spikers as she continues to conduct the Racers' attacks.

Federica Nuccio recorded her sixth double-double of the season. She is just behind Holcombe in kills with 16 while contributing in defense with 11 digs.

Dahlia Miller led the Racers in digs with 20.
"This is a good win for the team's morale while we are still here to try and improve to get ready for conference play," said head coach, David Schwepker.
"DeMier and Holcombe played really well today and there's still room for them to improve. We are glad to have them in the team."

The Racers will face Clemson at the Samford Invite, Sept. 17.
