Chloe Barnthouse and Morgan Bodker provided the offensive spark for the Racers on Sunday in a 2-2 draw with UT Martin
Junior forward Chloe Barnthouse and sophomore defender Morgan Bodker provided the offensive spark for Murray State (0-4-1) in a 2-2 draw with former conference rival UT Martin. The Racers and Skyhawks would clash following a nearly hour-long weather delay.
Â
The Skyhawks took the early lead on a corner kick in the 27th minute that ended directly in the back of the net. The Racers would respond following a handball in the penalty box from UT Martin in the 44th minute. Bodker would step up to the spot and calmly blast her shot into the top right corner of the net to level the scoring just before the half.
Â
UT Martin would again take the lead in the 57th minute after a scramble for the ball left the Racers goal open for a tap-in. Barnthouse would step up for the Racers about a half-hour later. In the 87th minute of the match, the forward would power a header into the net following some great build-up by Audrey Henry a beautiful cross from Mary Hardy to assist Barnthouse on the goal.
Â
The Racers were dominant throughout much of the contest while outshooting the Skyhawks 15-5 and putting more shots on target by a 7-2 margin. MSU would control 56 percent of the possession throughout game.
Â
Murray State now moves on to play IUPUI on Thursday for a 6 p.m. contest. The Racers next home game will be Sunday, September 11, when they take on Lindenwood for Senior Day.
