Fans will be treated to new experiences throughout the year when attending Racer basketball games
With the official start of the 2023-24 basketball seasons less than two weeks away, Murray State Athletics has made a major commitment to enhancing the game day experience for Racer fans of all ages while attending games inside the CFSB Center.
Â
From facility improvements to halftime entertainment, there will not be a game fans will want to miss this year.
Â
"The CFSB Center is already one of the best basketball environments in the nation, and we are committed to continuing to enhance the experience for our fans," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "This upcoming season will be special for both of our basketball programs, so we cannot wait to see all of Racer Nation out in full force over the next few months."
Â
Two of the most visible changes made for the upcoming season are the newly installed LED lighting system and the freshly redesigned court. The new LED lights have the ability to synced up with music, providing a brand-new fan experience never seen before in Murray, and allow for the ability to be turned off and on as well as strobe.
Â
Both projects are part of the more than $1 million dollars in facility upgrades that the department has had on-going over the last year.
Â
Fans can expect continued entertainment outside of basketball at this year's games, with familiar acts returning to the CFSB Center, such as the Boom Squad, and new nationally-recognized acts also coming in, including the Red Panda. A full promotion plan for both men's and women's basketball will be announced soon.
Â
Students will continue to have a huge role in creating a raucous environment with expanded seating in the student section. All Murray State students are encouraged to join The Winner's Circle, the newly relaunched official fan group of Racer Athletics that will lead the charge getting the team and crowd hyped up on game day.
Â
Other activations returning this season are the postgame shootaround, which allows kids the opportunity to shoot hoops on the game court after Racer home games, and the Mister B's Best Seat in the House, which is now being moved courtside and allows selected fans the ability to get up-close-and-personal with the game.
Â
Already one of the top game atmospheres and fan experiences in the nation, the CFSB Center has served as the home of the MSU men's and women's basketball since 1998. "The Bank" will begin its 26th year as the region's premier venue for events of all kinds this fall.
Â
The Murray State men's basketball team led the Missouri Valley Conference in attendance in their first season of 2022-23 with an average of 5,218 fans per game, while the Racers' women's program averaged more than 1,100 fans per game, a 30 percent increase from the 2021-22 season.
Â
The 2023-24 season begins for the MSU men's team with an exciting and rare exhibition game in Racer Arena (Nov. 1) against Brescia. The game marks the Racers' first appearance in the famous arena in 25 years. The season opener for the Racers is at the CFSB Center (Nov. 6) against Midway.
Â
The Murray State women's team hosts Lindsey Wilson (Nov. 2) at the CFSB Center in an exhibition game and open the season at home against Cumberland (TN) on Nov. 14.
